Check. This. Thing. OUT. I LOVE this new scarf I made! I bought some more expensive bulky yarn for this project! I had a gift card to Hobby Lobby so I spent it on the more expensive yarn to try something new. I had to buy 3 skeins of some big fluffy super soft red yarn. I am so glad I tried this! I swear this scarf looks store bought. It's so warm and cozy and soft I can't get enough. I made it super super long so I can wrap this behemoth 3 times! 3! It's the epitome of chunky bulky scarves. Plus the color is awesome. MMmmM! I used the same pattern I did on the multicolored scarf:
Step 1. Chain one row
Step 2. Double Crochet two rows
Step 3. Single Crochet two rows
(Repeat Steps 2 & 3)
So so so simple, so so so amazing. <3 Here's some more pictures!!!
(sorry for the poor quality on some of these- I took them on my Andriod)
Very cute! How many stitches across?
ReplyDeleteI just played with length and ended up doing about 140 across, but it really is all about personal preference!! Do 100 chains and then start to wrap it around your neck and pull your chains taught. Once you get it where you like the length, start your double crochet rows :)
DeleteGreat to know, thanks Kristi! Pinned for a future project!
DeleteWhat size hook did you use?
ReplyDeleteI used a size 9mm for this scarf :)
DeleteHi Kristi..This scarf is simply awesome!
ReplyDeleteI have just started crocheting, so don know much about it. Can u pls tell me which yarn did u exactly use for this project?
Hi Akanksha! I used a bulky red yarn. I will put the direct link at the bottom of this message. I hope you continue crocheting! I started on a whim one day because I did not want to buy a $40 scarf and then this blog happened! It really is easy to pick up once you learn basic stitches. I would not consider myself a professional crocheter, however, I do believe that making scarves is so incredibly simple (time consuming, but simple) and fun to do. I wish you the best on your crochet journey :)

Wow thanks for the inspiration! I will start my scarf soon! :)
ReplyDeletedid you crochet in rows or did you crochet in the round?
ReplyDeleteI tried this out last night. I used a foundation single crochet, instead of a chain and it worked really well. I crocheted in the round, and feel like it worked well too.
ReplyDeleteWhat is a "foundation single crochet"? Have never heard of any foundation other than a chain. How do you do it? Thanks.
Deleteit's where you don't have to chain & then single (or double) crochet into the chain. You do it all at once. There are several tutorials on YouTube. I think Moogly does the best "teaching". I still have to go look every time I try to use it
DeleteI'm new to crocheting...how did you combine the ends of the scarf to make it an infinity scarf?
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple ways that you can do it. you can connect it when you start and crochet in the round - go in a circle, or you just go back and forth in a straight line and then so it together when you are done.
ReplyDeleteIs there a pattern to go by other than 140 chains and a size 9 hook?
ReplyDeleteOnce you chain, which chain# do you start in? Then at end of rows, both single and double how many do you chain and which stitch do you start in? Your scarf is beautiful
